Phat Koto All-Stars on the Meadow of Love
The inspiring oral history–as related by the colorfully diverse participants–of the world’s greatest lacrosse match ever played.
In 1973, 280 lacrosse players (whose athletic skills are as varied as their backgrounds) gather in the legendary pot-growing mountains of Humboldt County, California to settle a property dispute between locals and a lumber company. The game, played on the pastoral Meadow of Love and surrounding mountains, lasts 58 hours, sends dozens of people to the hospital and establishes the mythical reputation of the irascible Billy Casper–a former East Coast lacrosse all-star, who, at age 60, organizes and leads the All-Stars into the epic battle.
